Happy Birthday Jerry.. Jerry Garcia would have been 70 years old on 8/1/2012. Although Jerry died in 1995, his influence remains in the spirit of various jam bands and in the hearts of lifelong deadheads. What a long, strange trip it's been!

Jackson Browne+Benji Hughes+Sara Watkins= Awesome concert in Charlotte

I was very excited to see Jackson Browne live in concert for the first time and Jackson did not disappoint. Jackson's voice has held up amazingly well over the years. The musicianship was top-notch during the entire evening. The unexpected surprise of the night was opening act, Sara Watkins, who was part of the early 2000's bluegrass band, Nickel Creek. Her impressive set was a hybrid of country, bluegrass and pop and featured unique covers (Mike Nesmith, Bob Dylan, Everly Brothers) alongside songs from her new CD.

Local Charlotte artist, Benji Hughes, was invited onstage during Jackson's set and performed a song from his 2008 CD.

On this 4th of July, I am still feeling sadness over the death of Andy Griffith....TV legend and hero to the people of North Carolina. Born in Mt Airy, Andy's laid-back southern vibe seemed effortless.,,
