Psychedelic bus..

Bus as vehicle for psychedelic journeys. In the late 60's, the psychedelic bus was all over the cultural landscape:

Indicator of your allegiance: you were either on the bus (counter-culture) or off the bus (establishment)

The Who-  The Magic Bus

The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour movie centered on a bus ride filled with psychedelic insanity.

The Other One- Grateful Dead... "The bus came by and I got on..That's when it all began"..
This tune chronicles the cosmic bus journey of the Merry Pranksters..

"It was cowboy Neil at the wheel"..  Neil Cassidy, the beat legend that was the basis for the Neil Moriarty character in the legendary On the Road novel

Furthur, the Grateful Dead splinter group featuring Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, takes its name from the Merry Prankster bus....

Even kid's cartoons had a Magic School Bus decades after the psychedelic era

And so on...

So hop on the bus and take a trip on psychedelic transit..all aboard!!

TLEO

Yo!  This has always been one of my favorite slices of live Grateful Dead music. The first live performance of "They Love Each Other" from 1973. The raw energy and rollicking beat always gets my attention. The tempo of the song was slowed considerably as years went by but this rocking debut version will always be tops in my book!..

and the slower version....
